SHUTEYE

i have two more posts but my back hurts already, and it's 4:05am here.
i'll try to post it tomorrow.
goodnight!
***
UPDATE: it's 11:22pm here now and i have to sleep coz we are going somewhere very early tomorrow. i was out the whole day. i haven't even uploaded pictures on my Facebook and Friendster. aaaaand, wala pa ako kasugod tu-on liwat! "...procrastination and celebration..." haha. hay.

VEGAS II

Las Vegas at twilight

it's 2:40am here now. i know i have been lagging on my posts. there's just so much to do here! the weather is warm, it's a waste to stay indoors! i am just excited coz i have been trapped in freezer state that is Jersey for the past two months. i am not sleeping until i finish this post.

what was supposedly a five hour flight from the east coast to the west took around six hours. i did not enjoy it coz although i was given the window seat, it was on the emergency exit row, so i can't recline my chair to sleep. once again i had really chatty neighbors. my seatmate talked to me for a while and i told him i'm from the Philippines. he looked surprised and said, "you speak really good english." i wanna retort with, "you speak really good english, too." but he seemed like a nice guy so i just said thank you and told him the first word we utter when we were babies is supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. haha, kidding. hay. they don't even know that most of the customer service assistants they call or some of their children's teachers are Pinoys hay.

i have arrived. haha.

i passed the time watching CSI. funny how when i was flying to New York the inflight movie i chose was Sex in the City. we finally landed after eternity and notice how in Philippine airports the arriving passengers get out a different gate than the departing passengers? well here, the arriving passengers pass through the gate where the departing passengers will go through to board. just something i noticed.

anyways, there were slot machines inside the airport so you know you've arrived in Las Vegas. and another thing i noticed, your sundo can wait for you at the baggage claim area, whereas in the Philippines, you can only meet them outside the airport, you have to haul all your luggage onto the trolley all by yourself.

my cousins, TJ and Steffi. waiting for my luggage.

soooo, after the hellos, hugs and mandatory just-arrived picture, we headed for buffet at Treasure Island. when we were done stuffing our faces, they took me to see half of The Strip (we're gonna see the other half some other time). we took pictures at every corner, block and wherever a casino was visible in the background, which was EVERYWHERE! haha! and for the first time i've been here, i was able to attend mass and whaddaya know? the songs were in Tagalog but the priest was evidently American. we went home and i got to meet the family dog, Shedder. i am bunked in TJ's room where Steffi pulled her bed into to keep me company on my first night.

with the cotton candy from the buffet. that spaceship looking thing behind us is a spaceship looking design thing of Fashion Show Mall.

the following day, i woke up at around noon. i was still adjusting from the three hour difference from Jersey. Toto did not have work until night so he took me out for lunch. guess where? CHOWKING! i was ecstatic! i got my favorite wanton soup and siomai. i was a bit disappointed though, coz they don't have chili sauce. don't they know people come to chowking for their chili sauce?! oh, that's just me. hahaha. in front of Chowking was Jollibee and Red Ribbon. i bet it's hard to miss fastfood from Pinas here. hehe.

that's my solo wanton soup on the foreground. it cost almost six dollars! tres shentos! tag singkwenta lang na!

siomai cost almost two dollars, for five pieces. i thought, bargain. jusko, pag abot, gamay pa sya sa kutsara! placed spoon for size reference. hehe.

"Dear Ms. Pasia:
The Board regrets..."

i stopped reading after the word regret. surely nothing good will follow after that word. I FAILED.

it was half past noon, and i was still groggy from sleep. i saw the clock and jumped right out of bed, donned my coat and headed for the mailbox. i took out all the mail and skimmed for mine. i saw the familiar North Carolina Board logo, picked it out and headed back to my room while tearing the envelope, all the while blinking the sleepiness away. I FAILED. if you want an instant waker-upper, a letter informing you that you're toast is more potent than espresso.

i tossed the letter aside and buried myself under the covers. i was disappointed with myself eventhough i knew in my gut that i won't pass. i mean, i started to prepare, nay, cram just two days before the exam. i alloted myself two weeks for review but procrastination got the better of me. it always does. and eventhough every information i tried to feed my brain just bounced off it, and eventhough i NEVER had one answer that i was 100% sure of during the exam, i still nurtured the thought that maybe i can make it. stupid me. hope is just hard to kill.

i got to thinking then. i always had it easy. i had... glided through life in relation to exams. i passed every major exam in one shot. my gradeschool entance exam, high school entrance exam, UPCAT, the PRC Local Boards, TOEFL. the exams that pave the way to my gajillion bank account. the exams that mattered. but i choked big time on the one that holds the key to my dreamhouse and car, european vacations and fat paycheck.

is this a sign? am i not supposed to be a PT here? am i not supposed to push it because if i do, i'd get sued and get thrown and sodomized in jail?

or am i reading the sign wrong?

maybe before i get slapped with a malpractice suit, the hand of reality is jerking me awake from my quarter of a century daze. between the lines of that awful mail, is future, shaking me out of mediocrity. back in college, i would be content to just pass, eventhough i knew i can do better. procrastination and mediocrity were on my right shoulder, and excellence was on my left. 2:1. who do you think always won?

i HAVE glided. i have passed those exams, but not necessarily with flying colors. now is the time to redeem myself. i am posting this to remind myself that you truly get what you deserve. if you wanna get somewhere, you roll up your sleeves and sweat for it. this is a lesson for me. when life hands you lemons, ask for a tequila shot. then sober up.

this is real life. i am if ever, going to be responsible for someone's life, someone's well being. i will be RELIED on. this time, i want to feel i deserve every number on that license.

it's crunch time.

BULLET

i have recovered. hehe. i figured, what's done is done and no amount of sulking or pining would help. if i don't pass, it doesn't mean i am dumb. move on and prepare for the next one.

i have also noticed that it took me a whole week to post so i just wanna blab about what i did or what happened during that time.

*the aunts and i watched Bride Wars. it was a funny and fast paced. it got a bit corny but what do you expect, it's a chick flick. Kate Hudson was fantastic! love her!

*an aunt gave me a birthday loot, and i loooove what she and her mom gave me! i now finally own a Victoria's Secret underwear! they also gave me a VS PINK body mist set (not the ones we used to have, you know, the pear glazes and endless loves sprays) and they smell wonderful! i am currently using the green capped one.

i forgot to include the underwear. hehe.

*i also got a FreePeople top (this brand is mahal, as in nothing below $40 nga daw papel man lang ka nipis ang shirts) and a pair of jeans. bummer though coz the jeans they got me was the uber low rise, uber skinny size 24. syempre, even if i'm skinny, my hips won't measure as tiny as 24 inches naman. hehehe. so i'm still waiting for the gift receipt so i can exchange it. gawd bless America for exhanges and returns. hehehe.

*my cousin Max, gave me an encyclopedia about Guitar Heroes, which i was stoked to have coz it got Kurt Cobain in it. i told her, "kon teenager lang ko Max, gisi na ni ang libro kag ara na ni gatapik sa dingding ko ang mga pictures. hehe." her brother Bray, gave me an Eraserheads Anthology CD. i was really, really touched. i never knew he was sensitive to the things i liked and made an effort to give me that. he had to order it at Amazon pa, and when it didn't get delivered on time, he made me a CD of the Eheads Reunion. sweet kid. i have to get him something from Vegas or maybe make a donation to his Sponsor-Bray's-Trip-To-California-In-August. hehehe.

*i was always checking the mail for a check that was supposed to buy me an iPod Touch, but it was a week after that Ma told me the check will be waiting in California. i hope the check will come with a trip to Six Flags. hehehe. if anything, that iTouch will be the most expensive thing i will buy here. i'm not really a techie person, and i am not the type that can't live without music. i rather fancied the gadget because of the games or apps i can put in it. for the hardcore games, Dean has PSP, we could always swap. hehehe.

what else?

*oh yeah, i talked to carmz till my phone almost died a couple of nights ago. we were talking about having a house party when we get back, given that we both pass, of course. but she said we can't have it at her house since they have whiny neighbors and we live sa uma sang Oton. hahaha. so we planned to rent the suite at four seasons hotel or IBC and have a sorta house party. a costume house party. we would fill the bathtub with ice and submerge the alcohol there and chips and dips for grub. i would bring a disco ball, and we would play music and chill, dance or play twister. the when we are all drunk, we'd all go down to Decos. hahaha.

wish this happens.

**i love you bie... i miss you...

NADA

i was raped by the exam.

the future looks bleak. very.

i will be preparing my forms for retake.
should i?
maybe this is a sign that it's not meant to be.

i have no intention of checking the results because i know i failed.
i'll wait for the goddamn mail.
by that time, i'll be in vegas.

tanawon ta gid b powers sang vegas
kon malipay pko gyapon makita ko ang results.

McHEADS

i've heard about this ad through the Circus eGoup but i've no time to look for it. thanks ate ces for leaving the link. hehehe.

banking on the Eraserheads' fame? maybe. but what the hell! it's good. the guy grows up to be all nerdy and cute and SHET! nakakaiyak! especially the last part where the guy still dips the fries in his sundae. SHET! heartbreaking. huhuhu. i miss you bie! huhuhu.

kudos to whoever came up with this. i bet the brains is an Eheads fan. i rememeber McDo was the place i waited for dean the day after he ran away from home. hahaha. SHET! ang McDo dito walang hot fudge sundae at spaghetti!

VEGAS

so... a green label, huh? first time i heard of that, Johnnie..
and you, on the left. so, you're the one from Poland giving my tongue an athetosis just so i could pronounce your name.
we'll meet soon. i'll introduce you to a friend, named Floor. maybe Porcelain God can come, too. haha. very soon.

1984

we went inside the bowling alley. in the far end of the room, there was a minibar in the corner. i stepped inside and saw this jukebox of old. it was fully functional, and will play thrice for a dollar. i slid a bill in and let the reggae music wash over me, thinking of sunny beaches and palm trees.

despite the biting cold, there were a lotta people coming in. "there's a tourney at around 7-ish." the attendant said. after a few minutes, we were told to get our shoes. we got to the counter and John was pointing at me saying, "that's her in the red jacket." the guy at the counter motioned me to come closer and shook my hand, "happy birthday!" he said. i found out, as we were leaving that he was John's close friend, and the food and game were free. Thank You.

we had two sets. i did poorly on the first, fearing of a shoulder dislocation because i chose my ball based on allure instead of function. it was neon green but was heavier than me. i got myself a strike and a spare. eating was done simultaneously, as athletes need constant refueling.

feeling satisfied that we were able to mount a game of olympic proportions, we donned our coats and braved the below freezing weather. i caught the aunts in the kitchen red handed and was aghast at the number of colorful and cute candles they were defacing the moist confection with. i tried to stop them at candle number 21 but i was reprimanded with "don't start the year with lies." i conceded, a table was set and a beautiful chocolate cake which was stabbed with candles, was placed in the middle. it was surrounded by a court of chocolate dipped strawberries.

ingestion commenced.

i opened my presents and was delighted to receive amongst others of cash and cash, this deck of transparent playing cards. the evening wore on with the young ones absorbed in their virtual football and us young at heart, a game that requires a highly receptive mind, only those for the wily and not the faint of heart: Pusoy.

it was a quaint and sweet birthday, where i succumbed to chocolate and elevated sugar levels instead of inebriation and the death of my dwindling brain cells. kick-off to the next quarter of a century was a success.

NEW MOON, SAME JACOB!!! YAY!

GOT THIS FROM ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY.

Stephenie Meyer confirms Taylor Lautner will be in 'Twilight' sequel

Jan 7, 2009, 07:39 PM | by Joshua Rich

Categories: Movie Biz

In a post on her website, Twilight author Stephenie Meyer confirms that Taylor Lautner will reprise his role as Jacob in the hit vampire romance's sequel, New Moon. As EW first reported last night, this news ends months of curiosity about whether Lautner would return. The full text of the announcement, which includes a statement from New Moon director Chris Weitz, is after the jump and at StephenieMeyer.com.

January 7, 2009

Good news about New Moon from director Chris Weitz:

I'm very happy to announce that Taylor Lautner will be playing Jacob Black in New Moon and that he's doing so with the enthusiastic support of Summit Entertainment, the producers, and Stephenie Meyer.

The characters in Stephenie's books go through extraordinary changes of circumstance and also appearance; so it is not surprising that there has been speculation about whether the same actor would portray a character who changes in so many surprising ways throughout the series. But it was my first instinct that Taylor was, is, and should be Jacob, and that the books would be best served by the actor who is emotionally right for the part. I think that fans of Twilight the book and the movie will be surprised by the Jacob Black that Taylor will bring to the screen in New Moon; and I'm looking forward to working with him and the rest of the cast in realizing the film.

very best

Chris Weitz

I'd just like to add that I was very much a part of this decision. My first priority was always what was best for New Moon—what was going to give us the best possible movie. I'm truly thrilled that Taylor was the one who proved to the director, to Summit, and to me that he is the best possible Jacob we could have. And I'm very much looking forward to seeing what he's going to bring to Jacob's character this year.

YAY!!! i am just happy that everyone from the original cast is coming back for the sequel. i just hate it when they replace actors when the character didn't die or anything. i find it hard to adjust. hahaha. like the Rachel Dawes character in Batman. if they were just gonna kill her character after two movies, then why didn't they just get Katie Holmes to reprise it.

anyways, YAY!!! haha. eventhough i love Edward and all, i also love Jacob's character and Taylor. i think he's perfect for the part. i'd like to see how he does the kissing Bella scene. roll over quickly, November 2009!

CHLG

Dean pointed out a while ago that it's been a while since my last entry. there isn't much to tell coz i've never left the house since that stuff-your-face-with-everything trip to Jersey City and it's been raining ice. not the soft, flurry snow, but ice-cube type ice. hay. as i browsed around a couple of blogs, both had Harry Potter posts so i decided to make a related post.

according to Wikipedia: The book was originally produced in a limited edition of only seven copies, each handwritten and illustrated by J. K. Rowling.[3] One of them was offered for auction in late 2007 and was expected to sell for £50,000 ($103,000); ultimately it was bought for £1.95 million ($3.98 million) by Amazon.com, making the selling price the highest achieved at auction for a modern literary manuscript.[4][5] The money earned at the auction of the book was donated to The Children's Voice charity campaign.[6]

this came out about a month ago. i'm sure you've read the 7th installment of the series, so you'll know this is the book Dumbledore left Hermione on his will. this is the book that contained the story about the three brothers who escaped death and were given the elder wand, the resurrection stone and the invisibility cloak. you know how it went. hehe. it's a good read, what with commentaries by Dumbledore himself. it will make you feel like everything about Harry Potter is real, and you have a piece of it as proof.

can't wait for the sixth movie!

FOOD TRIP

i was in Atlantic City last friday. i did lemon drop shots and was all over the place. i won 5 dollars on the monopoly slot machine. haha.

the boardwalk. sunny and about 1deg Celsius. hehe.

the family and I went to Jersey City today and i had the best lunch ever! i had two cups of rice, sinigang, dinuguan, bangrus, sisig, kinilaw na isda ang a huge bowl of batchoy. never thought i could fit all that in me but i did! haha! i remember telling eunice yesterday that i miss eating kinilaw. maybe that was a premonition! haha! anyways, their batchoy has got nothing on Deco's or Ted's. wala atay! kag ang sabaw kinanlan timplahon, indi bala ya pwede ma higop diretso kay wala sabor. hehe. but hey, make do with what's available. i wasn't able to take pictures because i inhaled every food in sight. hahaha. ga lip-ot na bal-an ginhawa ko sang gutom sang pakadto kami.

my dream car. not the bus, but the mini cooper with the hood cut out of the picture. hehe.

we then trooped to a filipino store and bought boy bawang, muncher and lactacyd. haha. you know how much the 250ml feminine wash cost? almost 9 dollars! jusko, mga 400 pesos! dapat hamot-hamot gid ni munay ko! ahahaha! muncher was reasonable, like 3 packs for a dollar. i didn't even look at our food bill, kay ma shock lang ko. haha. sakto gid na hambal nila, dollar gid man sweldo mo, dollar man gasto mo. my aunt said, if you always convert, you'll be rich but you'll starve here. hahaha. can't wait for Vegas coz there's Chowking there. wonder how much a chowfan will cost...

my cheesecake fantasy

desserts were had at ColdStone. in Manila, there's Cold Rock. in a -7 degree Celsius weather, we were having ice cream. we have gone mental. hahaha.

paubos battery. nami man house boots ko? FENK! hehehehe

LEARNING, TRYING...

sol rises

the alarm ringing

wake up kiss?

HAI-NA-KU

the cold western snow

as a little girl you yearn

the east misses you

on a rainy night

brightly the eastern sky shines

i'm sending kisses
